Our Company

The Silo Restaurant was originally built in 1967 by the Walters-Ceplo-Hingus family and was called"Ye Olde Silo". The restaurant closed in 1972 and stood vacant until October 1973 when Stanley and Mae Kurz of Oak Ridge, NJ, bought it.

It reopened in January 1974 with the simplified name of The Silo. Son Gary, joined his parents later that year and all three spent the next several years working very hard, despite Mae and Stan's worsening health, to establish a reputation as a fine dining establishment. Unfortunately, both parents died within a few years of each other in the early 1980's leaving Gary on his own to run the restaurant.

A devastating fire on May 22, 1985 threatened to destroy Gary's vision of what the restaurant could become. In a real show of community spirit, friends and customers organized to help with the cleanup from the fire so that rebuilding could occur.

The new and improved Silo reopened on September 17, 1985, following a huge thank you party for everyone who was so helpful during Gary's time of need. A banquet room was added to accommodate parties up to 300 people. Extensive landscaping of the grounds were added to enhance the natural beauty of the view from the hillside, making a beautiful backdrop for weddings. Three overnight guestrooms were added in 1987.

The success of The Silo is not only due to the Kurz family's hard work but also to the many long term employees who have dedicated themselves to ensure that The Silo exceeds the customers expectations of a fine dining experience.

Gary would like to thank all of his friends, employees and customers as The Silo Celebrates its 25th Anniversary.
